About The Mimiki Foundation

Who are we?

The Mimiki Foundation Trust was established in Brisbane in 2005 in order to support local and global charities. We believe that this dual focus is vital in our world.

The Foundation came about after a visit by a team of students and teachers from St Patrick's College in Redcliffe to Khayaletsha in South Africa. The poverty and sorrow was almost overwhelming – and a decision was made to extend the hand of support and care to the most marginalised people in both Brisbane and South Africa. To not be overcome by hopelessness, but to take direct action, one person at a time.

The Foundation started providing meals and support to people suffering homelessness, loneliness, and also to at risk youth. From this the Paddies Van grew and now each night of operation, we have over 40 volunteers providing meals, coffee and tea, and a listening ear, to people in need.

Each year over 5000 people are directly helped through the Mimiki Foundation in Brisbane and the Foundation has built strong relationships with many advocacy groups for South African youth.

The Foundation is directly linked with Trust Company Limited and is registered with the Australian Taxation Office as a deductible gift recipient, meaning that the Mimiki Foundation can receive tax deductible gifts and donations.

How we work

We are about providing hands on support for the marginalised in Brisbane and South Africa. We work alongside people to share their journey and to assist them move towards greater independence and happier lives.

We also provide leadership training for our future youth leaders to help them understand and address poverty in a global perspective.

We believe in thinking and acting locally for children globally.
